Cross Contamination

How to prevent Cross Contamination

When prepping your food before cooking, you might put your food on a table, counter, or cutting board together. You may not realize that this can cause cross contamination to occur. To avoid this, there are a couple of things you can do.

You can separate everything into groups, especially the meat. Meat has more bacteria in it than the other food groups. Which is why you need to keep raw meat separated from your other food. Cross contamination can also occur using the same knife to cut meat and vegetables without cleaning them in between uses.

Low Vision Chef actually sells a Knife Ceramic Set by Kyocera, Which every handle has a different color. This can be a great tool to help, by assign colors to each food group. For more information about this item, visit our website or call (630)552-6921.
